How do you heal yourself? What is your favorite form of self-therapy?

 

I’ve taken on many healing practices in the last several years: meditation, conscious eating, mindful self talk, self-forgiveness and acceptance, reiki, yoga, mindful solitude, ample time outside, being present with loved ones, expressing gratitude, etc. It's hard to choose a favorite but the mindful self-talk was revolutionary for me. I was very harsh with myself and in general before coming to the realizations that I did.

 

 

When/what was the catalyst that made you start?

 

There were a few catalysts. I experienced a chronic pain illness several years ago that lasted almost a year…and that really got me to change up my lifestyle. I was prescribed so much medication it was ridiculous. I decided to try the holistic route; I began yoga regularly, eating mindfully, working out, meditating, etc. I also began practicing mindful self-talk and self-acceptance. Physically, I got better almost immediately, and mentally, my anxiety decreased significantly.

 

 

How has this form of healing helped you? 

 

This form of healing is incredible to me because it helped me to realize my own power.

 

 

What does your process look like? (Please share what you feel comfortable sharing) 

 

My process looks like whatever being kind to myself looks like; whatever taking care of myself looks like at the moment. So that could be doing yoga first thing in the morning or going to the park. It could be skipping starbucks and eating more clean or going to the gym. It could be stopping myself in the middle of a downward anxiety spiral I've created from overthinking about something or it could be reminding myself that my acne scars aren't a big deal lol I guess it looks like anything good for me if that makes sense!

 

 

 

 

How does it make you feel when you are healing yourself?

 

Connected and powerful.

 

 

Why is what you do so important? Why is this form of self-helping important to you?

 

It’s important because so often we believe our needs must be fulfilled from external sources when we already have what we are looking for…and it’s important because it demonstrates the absolute power of the mind and highlights the divine mind-body connection.

 

 

What is your inspiration to continue doing what you are doing? What is the fuel that keeps you going?

 

The inspiration is easily how good it makes me feel and how right it feels. I also really love that I have a social media platform to connect with others on – that community definitely helps add to the fuel.

 

 

What are your visions &/or goals?

 

I seriously just aim to be happy and healthy – physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually – and to be of help to those who want the same. I also aim to make sure this healthy lifestyle of mine is sustainable.

 

 

Tell us a fun fact about your form of healing, what it is that you do, or something people may not know.

 

I was first certified in reiki when I was 19, and I got certified with my mom. 

 

 

In one sentence, what is your message to the world?

 

It's worth saving.
