I have noticed that herbal "information" is being flung around quite a bit on the internet. Herbs are wonderful allies, but I feel as though people are partaking in herbs, just because it seems like the cool thing to do.

Herbs are WONDERFUL, but they live in a world that needs to be better understood before consumption.

Let us start here. There are over 40 different categories to classify herbs under. FOURTY! This means that there are over 40 different primary functions of different herbs. A few of my favorite categories are: ADAPTOGENS, ALTERATIVES, BITTERS, EMMENAGOGUES, NERVINES (tonics, stimulants, & relaxants), & SEDATIVES. **When combining herbs, this is important as you want to make sure each plant assists the purpose of the other** These a...

Every year we whip out our journals or phones and make long lists of all the ways in which we are going to heal, change and become better people when the first of January comes around. These resolutions have become spells that we hope will cast away all the habits and behaviors that are holding us back from becoming the best versions of ourselves. We commit ourselves to yoga challenges, juice cleanses, changing our jobs, giving up meat, saving more money, running a marathon. We fling ourselves onto the January train running at top speed on the fuel of the obsessive transformational energy that seems to pump through all of our veins.

Reflecting on 2017 might have brought to light the fact that it was a difficult year. That you didn’t achieve all t...

Cleaning your space is an underrated way to ground yourself mentally, spiritually, physically and emotionally. The beautiful thing about tidying is that you can personalize the experience to your liking. To clean is to literally get your house in order -- to arrange things in a way that is conducive to your health. Your space is the foundation upon which all success is built.

Think about how you feel when your house is clean in comparison to how you feel when you look around and see clutter, disorganization, and a place that lacks tidiness. Humans tend to be visual and this fact should remind us that what we see is what our minds consume. If your space is clean your mind is clean.

When I think about grounding I associate it with gardening. In orde...

If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, you know that winter time is looming. With it comes colder weather, shortening of days, and a dramatic decrease in the amount of green you see outside.

If you are like me or many people that I know, the weather can affect your mood in a major way. Many people experience Seasonal Affective Disorder aka Seasonal Depression.

There are a few things that can be done in order to not get caught with the winter blues.

Here we go!

•Well first thing is first: STAY WARM! Do what you can to stay warm at all times. Physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. Keep the external fires (aka heaters) burning as well as the internal ones! Keep the creation going, find ways to laugh with your belly among the ones that you...

Holiday times can be very triggering, I know that it is for me. It does not evoke that ear to ear smile, that warm feeling in your belly, a time to look forward to all year. In fact, most holidays I would have much rather be by myself in my own good company. " Its the most wonderful time of the year"....yeah right!

It is not that I have worst family in the world, because I do not...it is just an overwhelming bombardment of what the holidays are "supposed" to look like vs the reality of what they really are. Social media does not help this because it is advertised, intentionally and unintentionally, everywhere.

You see all of these families gathered in love and happiness. You see and feel the togetherness. You witness the laughter, the joy, the sen...

Surrender.

What does that look like for you? If you were to surrender to the whispers of your heart.

How does one do such a thing? Where does one start?

Well, one can always start with getting quiet. This can look like whatever feels good to you. You can sit, stand, squat, lay on the floor – find what feels good to the body.

Rest in the chosen position for a few breath cycles. For those who need a tangible number, do 6 rounds of slowly breathing in (expanding your chest + belly) through the nose then slowly release the breath out the mouth.

Be still and listen. If you have thoughts that arise and may pull you out of the moment, i.e. “I wonder what, such and such  posted on Instagram.” “I’m hungry, I think.” “This is a waste of time.” Etc., it doesn’t...

Birthdays evoke a lot of strong emotions for many people. The passing of time is either exciting as one prepares for the growth and the blessings that come with adding another candle to their cake, but for others it brings great pain or sadness that comes from realizing that they are not yet embracing the person they want to be or leading the lives they desire. Nonetheless, it's an occasion that brings with it great reflection. As my 18th birthday draws near, I have spent many sleepless nights reflecting on the life I have lived thus far. One of those nights ending in me having a little breakdown as I realized that I am not where I had hoped to be. This particular evening of deep reflection prompted me to think about all the ways in which enteri...

One of the hardest lessons that I’ve had to learn throughout my spiritual journey is understanding, creating, and maintaining healthy boundaries. As an empath, I am susceptible to the energy, feelings, and emotions of others. I effortlessly feel the emotions of strangers, family members, friends, and associates. I began to experience a constant state of energetic drainage and physical fatigue. It took me a while to realize that I was carrying everyone else’s emotions, insecurities, doubts, expectations, pain, confusion, and fear all by myself. Through introspection and “get your life” meetings with my spiritual mentor, I realized that I had to learn how to create boundaries.

When my mentor presented the idea of me having to create these much-need...

It never ceases to amaze me how the Universe loves to teach me lessons through other people. These people come at the oddest times when I never expect their arrival or the role they will eventually play in my life. Love has been one of my biggest teachers yet. I fell in love one day but little did I know my whole perspective on love, relationships, and Self would ultimately change for the better.

So I met this tall brown man one fall afternoon, and we connected immediately. We started to date and gradually began to spend a lot of time together. A connection slowly began to grow, and a friendship arose with no expectations of a serious relationship. We both allowed ourselves to flow with the Universe and open up to one another in an attempt to fin...

Is it just me or has "Sustainability"  become a trendy hipster term nowadays?

Per our 2017 culture in society, it's very elite, luxury, not-budget-friendly lifestyle that is perfectly curated on a Pinterest board showcasing unique, chic, reclaimed wood goodies, DIY-projects-that-take-years-to-create + other products, good and services.

What is sustainability?

Sustainability: "creating and maintain conditions under which humans, animals+ nature can exist in productive harmony."

Reference: Webster Dictionary

Basically, making the planet viable and livable for future generations to come.

On our journey this includes food, travel, entertainment (films, TV, social media, music, etc.), clothing , products + goods consumed (mainly via small businesses).

How...
